Part I & II (80 hrs)
TBA
Taught by Tanya Popovich
Swaha Aerial Yoga is a practice that uses the hammock prop almost entirely throughout the class thus creating a moving sequence (vinyasa) that is fun, exciting and uplifting. Starting with basic warm ups, stretching and body conditioning, we move into doing poses and sequences lifted completely in the air, only to work ourselves again towards the floor and get grounded to end the practice in a delicious Savasana.
- Aerial Yoga Asana
- Transitions and Flow
- Sequencing
- Teaching Methodology
- Relaxation techniques
- Injury and special population
- Fabric, Rigging and Safety Issues
After successfully completing part I & II and final examination you will get Swaha Aerial Yoga Certification. Swaha Aerial Yoga Teacher Training Course counts towards Yoga Alliance Continuing Education.
Part III (40 hrs)
TBA
Taught by Michelle Dortignac
Description
Unnata® Aerial Yoga is quickly becoming known around the world as “the Aerial Yoga that still feels like Yoga.” Going beyond the basic physical fitness usages of the Yoga hammock, the Unnata technique uses the hammock to help students deepen their breathing, and to access the energy body for a complete Yoga practice. In addition, instructors use the hammock prop to educate students how to better practice traditional floor Asanas and as well how to balance a release of effort with muscular activation during a Yoga practice.
Topics for Part III include:
- How does Unnata Aerial Yoga work- what makes this Yoga?
- Working with the energies of Yin and Yang, working in the air and on the floor
- What to look for in your students
- Sequencing an Unnata Aerial Yoga class
NOTE: Testing and successful completion of the program will take place through video consultation and written email questionnaire, after the dates of the training. If coming from abroad allow an extra day for your stay.

Tanya Popovich is a Certified Yoga Teacher and a founder of Swaha Yoga Center. Tanya took up meditation practice at the age of 14 when she was initiated into Transcendental Meditation. After completing The University of Fine Arts and Design, Tanya started studying Yoga mainly in India, but also in Thailand and USA. Her main studies include Classical Yoga (Yoga Vedanta Forest Academy), Esoteric Kundalini-based Hatha Yoga (Trika Yoga), Anusara Yoga (mainly with Jonas Westring) and Unnata® Aerial Yoga (with Michelle Dortignac).
Today Tanya holds the title of Yoga Acharya - Master of Yoga by Yoga Vedanta Forrest Academy. She is adept in Vedanta, Raja Yoga and Sanskrit, but also in anatomy and biomechanics of the body. She is a certified Thai Massage Therapist. Tanya combines her knowledge of various aspects of yoga in a unique teaching style that integrates therapeutic body alignment, rhythmic flow and expansion of breath and vital energy, concentration, positive mental outlook and proper rest and nutrition. She promotes yoga as a way of holistic lifestyle through which one moves towards the flow of cosmic harmony and joy.
Michelle grew up in Colorado, USA where she and her family spent a large part of their time in the Rocky Mountains hiking, camping, and contemplating the silence of nature. The athletic quality of Hatha Yoga is a natural outgrowth from those days, using strength, endurance and flexibility to seek an inner calm and peace.
In 1991, Michelle moved to NYC to study Dance and Yoga. The two practices became integrated for her. In 1998, she became certified to teach Vinyasa Yoga under the guidance of Cyndi Lee at the OM Yoga center, and began teaching at the center. In 2002, Michelle transitioned her Dance training from the floor to the air, learning the circus art form of Tissu/Silks. That same year, she left OM Yoga center to continue to explore her unique vision of Aerial Dance and Yoga. She practiced at home, in Circus studios, and at the renowned Dharma Mittra Yoga center, culminating all her studies into this combined class — Unnata Aerial Yoga. Unnata Aerial Yoga is an organic hybrid that has grown out of a lifetime of study on movement and meditation.
